The Accidental Scarecrow Sprinklers Ad

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Few weeks ago, my friend, Ria invited me to spend Thanksgiving on her grandparents’ farm. Since my parents are out of the country, I gave in. I mean, who wants to spend Thanksgiving alone, right? On our way to her Grand parents’ farm, I imagined myself living in a farm: What would life be or what would I basically do?

Upon arriving, I met Ria’s grandfather who just came from the rice plantation. By looking at his face, you would know that there was something bothering him. Ria said that maybe the harvest wasn’t that good or maybe some animals destroyed the rice field.
While browsing the Internet, an ad popped out of my computer and it was about the Scarecrow Sprinklers that can prevent animals from trespassing in an area. I told Ria about the ad and the following day, we told Ria’s grandfather to buy those Sprinklers because it can prevent animals from raiding their rice field and it is eco-friendly. A few days after, one of their workers went to the market to buy one.

A few weeks later, I received a letter from Ria’s grandfather expressing his thanks for telling him about the Sprinklers. It was by pure accident that I saw the ad, by I’m glad it was able to help them a lot.

Eva’s Allergies

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Eva was allergic to a lot of things including chocolates. Eva was a sickly girl. Though she is not as delicate and sensitive as before, she still has several things to watch out for.

When she was a kid, she was brought to the hospital due to severe skin inflammation caused by an allergic reaction to dirty water. Nowadays, Eva and her parents buy a lot of hot tub chemicals for sale so that they won’t run and Eva can enjoy dipping in the hot tub.

Flowers, roses specifically, make Eva cry. Her allergic rhinitis would take over and she would be teary-eyed and sneezing the whole time she would be near a rose. Eva is also allergic to broccoli and some people even think she is quite lucky. Eva also develops rashes when she comes in contact with dust. The rashes would sprout in a part of her body and then spread in a few hours if not treated immediately.

Eva is used to her allergies and constantly brings along a lot of allergy medicines, inhalers, ointments in case of another attack. Despite of these setbacks, Eva is an extremely jolly person. She is funny and outgoing. She never lets her allergies get in the way.

Whitewater Rafting

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

There are hundreds or even thousands of great rivers all over the world where adventurers can go whitewater rafting. Whether you are in the Americas, Europe, Asia, or Africa, you are bound to find a river high up in the mountains with a steep enough drop in its gradient to form whitewater.

With this drop you can expect a fast-paced descent amid huge waves, eddies, holes, sieves, and boulders. Your raft may be tossed, turned, or even capsized, but all these are part of the challenge of the river. It’s not easy but if it were, it would not be a challenge and therefore it would not be fun.

If you find the time to look around you while paddling your way down the river, you will notice either the lush forests on the river bank or the majestic gorges and mountains flanking the river. This is because rivers such as these are always found in such areas. If you find yourself rafting in the mighty Zambezi, you must stop and marvel at the magnificent and thunderous Victoria Falls. If you are in the Colorado River, be sure to pause and gaze in wonder at the Rockies.

Whitewater rafting is the perfect way to get your adrenaline pumping, get your cardio exercise, and enjoy the spectacular sights nature has to offer.

Family Vacations

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

A vacation is a break from your usual routine. It is a time when you run away from your daily grind and relax, rest, unwind, and recharge your batteries. Of course, you will have to go back to work, but after a vacation you do so feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

You can make your breaks from work meaningful and even more satisfying by turning them into family vacations. You can use them to make up for all the times you had to leave for work while your kids were still sleeping and missed saying goodbye, or when you arrived from work and they were already sleeping and missed saying good night. Perhaps you have broken a promise or two to them, say, a promise to take them to a ball game or to the movies, because your boss suddenly called you into his office for extra work. You can more than compensate for their disappointments by taking them to an adventure they can appreciate and can hardly ever forget.

It doesn’t have to be an expensive vacation, just as long as it is in a place different from home. Remember, it is a break. If you live along the coast, a vacation on another coast can hardly be a break. Try the forests and mountains instead. There is really only one rule, do something different or go some place different for enjoyable, meaningful family vacations.

Homemade Ice Cream

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

It is often said that traveling to a holiday destination with family or friends is half the fun of the vacation. If we run along this line of thinking we can also say that preparing homemade ice cream is half the fun of eating it.

With so many sites on the Internet offering free ice cream recipes, it should not be too difficult to get started on preparing your own mix. If you know your way around the kitchen and are familiar with the ingredients that go into foodstuffs, you may even experiment and come up with your own original ice cream flavor.

Ice cream makers fill up store shelves and web pages. Most new models are automatic. All you need to do is prepare your ingredients, pour them into the machine, flick a switch, and wait for your ice cream. You can call in your family into the kitchen and have dad cut up the bananas or peaches or strawberries. Get the boys to measure the cream, sugar, vanilla or almond. The girls can handle the egg yolks.

Another type of ice cream maker is the old manual kind. The ingredients are the same but you will need to put rock salt and crushed ice into a compartment of the machine. After this, you can get your kids into a contest on who can roll and shake the ice cream maker the longest.

Either way, automatic or manual maker, you can have fun making your homemade ice cream.
